I think this is my year to fully realize my "mortality". When we are young, we are going to feel great, have fun, and live forever! After attending seven or eight funerals this year (I've literally lost track), I am understanding the cycles of life and death as never before. Everyone comes to this point...maybe I'm a late bloomer on this score, but it has finally hit home! Today is Wednesday and I will be attending another relative's funeral at 2:00 PM. I can see, at my age, it is part of life and a way for us to prepare for our eventual passing. I've seen so much suffering and death this year...I finally understand the process and truly do not fear the inevitable.
I took these photos on a recent trip to Lake Worth... which is always comforting and peaceful. This post may seem morbid, but I felt the need to express this as I attend one more passing.

ReplyDeleteNot morbid at all, Janette, but meditative and reflective on an issue that is as much a part of life as anything we encounter... it's just that for so many people it's a scary thing to think about or to discuss. I'm so sorry that you've had to deal with this much loss in one year, and I'm thinking of you. Your photos are so lovely and fit your post so well.
